7 fuentes que indican la voluntad de Dios (7 sources indicating the will of God)

Queridos amigos, no les crean a todos los que afirman hablar de parte del Espíritu. Pónganlos a prueba para averiguar si el espíritu que tienen realmente proviene de Dios, porque hay muchos falsos profetas en el mundo.

Cuando entregamos nuestra vida a Jesús y decidimos seguirlo, es natural que nuestro anhelo sea vivir bajo su guía y dirección, y obedecerle en lo que nos pida. Aunque en la mayoría de situaciones y decisiones que tomamos diariamente podemos fácilmente saber qué hacer, hay situaciones que todos enfrentamos sin saber muchas veces cuál es la voluntad de Dios y qué se supone es lo que debemos hacer.

¿Te has visto en una situación donde no sabes si lo que debes hacer viene de Dios o no?

Es común que usemos frases como Dios me dijo, o Dios me habló, o sé lo que debo hacer porque Dios me lo ha pedido, pero la realidad es que muchas veces estamos refiriéndonos a un sentir interno, a un pensamiento o a un anhelo personal disfrazado de espiritualidad, sin nunca haber realmente recibido una palabra o mensaje claro de parte de Dios. En otras ocasiones, la palabra o lo que se nos dice viene de parte de otra persona, y como lo vemos en 1 Juan 4:1, estamos llamados a poner a prueba si eso proviene o no proviene de Dios.

Aunque soy un convencido de que en su soberanía nuestro Dios se manifiesta de maneras diferentes a la vida de cada persona, sé también que muchos tienen el privilegio de escuchar la voz de Dios audiblemente; pero en más de 15 años de caminar en mi fe cristiana, puedo decir por mi experiencia que quienes escuchan la voz audible de Dios son una minoría. Aun así, aunque Dios te hable de forma audible, siempre es bueno asegurarse de que lo que escuchaste, o crees haber escuchado de parte de Dios sea probado a la luz de las siguientes 7 fuentes por medio de las cuales Dios manifiesta su voluntad a nuestras vidas.

1. ¿Qué dice Su palabra? Nunca Dios te pedirá o dirá algo que no se alinee con todo el consejo bíblico. La Biblia es la palabra de Dios y revela su voluntad para nuestras vidas. Si lo que piensas hacer viola algún principio bíblico, puedes estar seguro que no viene de Dios.

2. ¿Qué dicen tus autoridades? Es sano que como creyentes, le otorguemos autoridad sobre nuestras vidas a personas espiritualmente maduras que nos amen y busquen lo mejor para nosotros. Consultarles, sin manipular la respuesta que queremos obtener nos permitirá identificar la voluntad de Dios.

3. ¿Qué dicen las circunstancias? Si es la voluntad de Dios, las circunstancias deben apuntar en esa dirección. Si Dios te pide que te vayas de misionero a la China, el siguiente paso lógico sería que te aprobaran la visa, no que te la negaran. Esto no quiere decir que cuando Dios pida algo no enfrentaremos dificultad.

4. ¿Qué haría Jesús? Pensar en lo que haría Jesús siempre es un buen filtro. Si lo que estás pensando hacer no se alinea con el carácter de Cristo es bien probable que no sea por ahí.

5. ¿Se alinea eso con tus dones, tus talentos y tu diseño? Es poco probable que Dios te pida algo que no se alinee con tu diseño. El diseño demuestra la función y el propósito. Excepcionalmente sin embargo, vemos casos donde Dios llamó hombres y mujeres sin las cualificaciones y por su gracia los capacitó para la tarea.

6. ¿De las opciones que tienes, cuál glorifica más a Dios? Este siempre es un buen filtro. Si hay una “Y” y no sabes qué camino tomar, pregúntate esto y sin duda podrás decidir con mayor seguridad.

7. ¿Tienes la paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento? Aunque todo lo demás indique una repuesta, si no hay paz en el espíritu, la paz que solo el Espíritu Santo nos puede proveer, no es recomendable actuar. La paz es espiritual, no emocional ni racional. Es un sentido profundo en tu espíritu de que estás haciendo lo correcto. Frente a decisiones muy importantes es normal sentir algo de temor o duda, pero en general cuando la paz de Dios está presente es más fuerte que cualquier emoción.

Por último y quizá el más importante de los consejos que te quiero dar, es el siguiente:

Proverbios 3:6 (NTV)

Busca su voluntad en todo lo que hagas, y él te mostrará cuál camino tomar.

Si buscamos su voluntad, Él nos mostrará el camino y no será difícil decidir. Muchas veces podemos pasar los 7 filtros, pero hacerlo buscando nuestra voluntad y nuestros deseos y no la voluntad de Dios, en ese caso, es un asunto decidido y no servirá de mucho el ejercico, pues “engañoso es el corazón más que todas las cosas” (Jeremías 17:9). Por eso hoy te invito a que en toda decisión, grande o pequeña, busques su voluntad.

7 sources indicating the will of God

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

When we give our lives to Jesus and decided to follow him, it is natural that our desire is to live under his guidance and direction, and obey Him in what he asks. Although in most situations and decisions we make every day we can easily know what to do, there are situations we all face many times without knowing what the will of God is and what is it we are supposed to do.

Have you been in a situation where you do not know if what you do comes from God or not?

It is common that we use phrases like: God told me, and God spoke to me, or, I know what to do because God has asked me to do it, but the reality is that we are often referring to an inner feeling, a thought or a personal desire spiritually disguised, without ever actually had received a word or clear message from God. At other times, the word or what we are told comes from another person, and as we see in 1 John 4:1, we are called to test whether or not it comes from God.

Although I am convinced that our God in his sovereignty manifests in different ways to the life of every person, I also know that many have the privilege of hearing the voice of God audibly; but in more than 15 years of walking in my Christian faith, I can say from my experience that those who hear the audible voice of God are a minority. Still, even if God speaks to you audibly, it's always good to make sure that what you heard, or think you have heard from God is tested in the light of the following 7 sources through which God manifests his will to our lives.

1. What does His word say? God will never ask you or say something that does not align with the whole Bible counsel. The Bible is the word of God and reveals His will for our lives. If what you plan to do violates any biblical principle, you can be sure it’s not from God.

2. What do your authorities say? It is healthy that as believers, we give authority over our lives to spiritually mature people who love us and want the best for us. Consulting them without manipulating the answer that we want to obtain will allow us to identify God's will.

3. What do circumstances say? If something is God's will, the circumstances must point in that direction. If God asks you to go as a missionary to China, the next logical step would be to get an approved visa and not a denial. This does not mean that when God asks something we will not face difficulty.

4. What would Jesus do? Thinking about what Jesus would do is always a good filter. If what you're planning to do is not aligned with the character of Christ, then it’s very likely that’s not the way.

5. Is it aligned with your gifts, your talents and your design? It is unlikely that God asks you something that does not align with your design. The design demonstrates the function and purpose. Exceptionally, however, we see cases where God called men and women without qualifications and grace enabled them to perform the task.

6. Of the multiple options you have, which one glorifies God the most? This is always a good filter. If there is a "Y" and you do not know which path to take, ask yourself this question and certainly you’ll be able to decide more clearly.

7. Do you have the peace that passes all understanding? Even if everything else indicated the correct answer, if there is no peace in your spirit, that peace that only the Holy Spirit can provide, it is not advisable to act. Peace is spiritual, not emotional or rational. It is a profound sense in your spirit that feels like you are doing the right thing. It is normal to feel fear or doubt when facing important decisions, but generally when God's peace is present it’s stronger than any emotion.

Finally and perhaps the most important advice I want to give you today is the this:

Proverbs 3: 6 (NLT)

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

If we seek His will, He will show us the way and it will not be hard for us to decide. We can many times apply this 7 filters seeking for our will and our desires and not the will of God. This then would be a waste of time. The Bible says "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things" (Jeremiah 17:9). This is why today I invite you to seek his will in every decision you make.
