Un gran problema requiere una gran respuesta (A great problem requires a great answer)

El ser humano se enfrenta a un problema mucho más grave de lo que sospecha. Este problema se llama pecado. El pecado conlleva consecuencias presentes, futuras generacionales y eternas; logrando impactar más esferas que cualquier otro problema, afectando todos los tiempos y las dimensiones de la vida. Pero quizá el problema más serio que hay con el pecado, es que este no tiene solución humana.

Jeremías 2:22 (DHH)

Por más que te laves con lejía y uses todo el jabón que quieras, ante mí sigue presente la mancha de tu pecado. Yo, el Señor, lo afirmo.

A lo largo de la historia, el hombre ha buscado solución a su conciencia de pecado a través de las buenas obras, de la religión y de la filosofía, pero el resultado lejos de acercar lo único que ha logrado es alejar a la gente de Dios y enfriar su corazón a la obra de Jesucristo. El pasaje anterior muestra claramente que aunque nos lavemos y amontonemos buenas obras, nada de esto será suficiente para borrar el pecado ante Dios.

La principal consecuencia del pecado es la separación de Dios.

Romanos 3:23 (RVR 1960)

Por cuanto todos pecaron, y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios.

En el original, la palabra destituidos indica que nos hemos quedado cortos en alcanzar la estatura de la gloria de Dios. Esto claramente demuestra que por causa del pecado, los seres humanos jamás podremos acercarnos a Dios en nuestras fuerzas. Es por esto que la religión en su esfuerzo por acercarse a Dios ha fallado, mientras que el cristianismo al aceptar que es Dios quien se acercó a nosotros (en la persona de Jesucristo) triunfa por medio de la fe.

La respuesta más grande a las necesidades del ser humano (la gracia) es aquella que resuelve su máximo inconveniente (el pecado). Esta respuesta se encuentra en una persona y no en la capacidad humana de cumplir una ley.

Juan 1:17 (RVR 1960)

Pues la ley por medio de Moisés fue dada, pero la gracia y la verdad vinieron por medio de Jesucristo.

Este pasaje nos habla de dos pactos, el primero dado por Moisés, la ley, basada en el esfuerzo humano por agradar a Dios; y el otro dado por Jesús, la gracia, el favor no merecido que no se puede obtener con esfuerzo humano sino solo por creer. Observa que la gracia y la verdad están del lado de Jesús. Tanto la gracia como la verdad están encarnadas en Jesús y no se pueden separar una de la otra. La gracia y la verdad no son una doctrina son una persona, Jesús.

Jesucristo es la respuesta al problema del hombre. Solamente en él es posible resolver el dilema del pecado y sus consecuencias; por su gracia podemos acceder a la vida eterna y a las promesas reservadas para el justo. En Jesús somos hechos justos. Esto quiere decir que somos hechos rectos. Es un error pensar que somos justos por hacer lo correcto o por obrar bien. La verdad es que somos justos porque Jesús hizo lo correcto. ¡Somos justos por la cruz de Cristo! Esto no significa que no tenemos que obrar bien, pues la Biblia enseña (Efesios 2:10) que las obras son una consecuencia de la salvación y que aquel que es salvo se le nota su salvación (Santiago 2.18).

Entrégale hoy tu vida a Cristo y declara tu insuficiencia para salvarte por tus obras y reconciliarte con Dios en tus fuerzas. Solamente puedes ser justo por medio de la fe en Él. Pídele también que te permita empezar a vivir una vida santa que sea fruto de tu salvación.

A great problem requires a great answer

Human being faces a much more serious problem than he suspects. This problem is called sin. Sin brings present, future, generational and eternal consequences; and has more impact than any other problem, affecting dimensions and periods of life. But perhaps the most serious problem there is with sin, is that there is no human solution for it.

Jeremiah 2:22 (NKJV)

For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before Me, says the Lord God.

Throughout history, man has sought solutions to his consciousness of sin through good works, religion and philosophy, but the result is far from bringing people to God; all this has done is turning people away from God and harden the hearts to the work of Jesus Christ. The above passage clearly shows that while we can wash ourselves and do much good works, none of this will be enough to erase our sin before God.

The main consequence of sin is separation from God.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

Gor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

This indicates that we have fallen short in reaching the stature of the glory of God. This clearly shows that because of sin, humans will never be qualified to approach God in our own strength. This is why religion in its effort to get closer to God has failed, while Christianity accepting that it is God who came to us (in the person of Jesus) triumphs through faith.

The greatest answer given to the need of any human being is grace. Grace resolves our biggest problem (sin). This answer is found in a person and not in the human ability to fulfill the law.

John 1:17 (NKJV)

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

This passage speaks of two covenants, the first one was brought by Moses, the law, based on human effort to please God; and the other covenant Brought to us by Jesus, grace, unmerited favor that you cannot obtain with human effort, but only by believing in Him. Note that grace and truth are on Jesus’ side. Both grace and truth are embodied in Jesus and cannot be separated from one another. Grace and truth are not a doctrine they are a person, Jesus.

Jesus Christ is the answer to the problem of humanity. It’s only possible to solve the dilemma of sin and its consequences in Him; by his grace we have access to eternal life and to the promises reserved for the righteous man. In Jesus we are justified. This means that we are made righteous. It is a misconception to think that we are righteous by doing the right thing or the good works. The truth is that we are righteous because Jesus did the right thing. We are justified by the cross of Christ! This does not mean that we should not do good works; in fact the Bible teaches (Ephesians 2:10) that works are a consequence of salvation and he who is saved will show the evidence (James 2:18).

Surrender your life to Christ today and declare your insufficiency to save yourself through works and to be reconciled with God in your strength. You can only become righteous through faith in Him. Ask Him as well to allow you to start living a holy life as a fruit of your salvation.
