Al que cuida bien lo que vale poco, también se le puede confiar lo que vale mucho. Y el que es deshonesto con lo de poco valor, también lo será con lo de mucho valor.

Mateo 25:21 (LBLA)

Su señor le dijo: “Bien, siervo bueno y fiel; en lo poco fuiste fiel, sobre mucho te pondré; entra en el gozo de tu señor.

La palabra fiel en ambos pasajes tiene la misma raíz etimológica: Pistos, quiere decir digno de confianza, confiable, fidedigno, verdadero. La palabra injusto, del griego ádikos quiere decir traicionero, malo, malvado.

En otras palabras si no eres digno de confianza con lo que tienes (poco o mucho), tampoco lo serás con lo que quieres tener. O mejor aún, si eres traicionero con lo que tienes, también lo serás con lo que quieres.

Es común encontrar gente que dice cosas como:

• Cuando gane más dinero entonces si podré disfrutar con mi familia.

• Cuando tenga aquello entonces ahí si haré esto otro.

• Cuando tenga más tiempo podré ayudar a otros...

• Cuando sea rico...

• Cuando tenga...

• Si tuviera tal cosa, sería feliz.

La realidad es que si no lo hacemos con lo que tenemos, tampoco lo haremos con lo que queremos.

• El que no ayuda a los pobres con lo que gana hoy, tampoco lo hará con lo que sueña ganar mañana.

• El que no disfruta su casa pequeña e incómoda, no disfrutará la mansión que desea tener.

• El que no saca tiempo para orar dentro de su apretada agenda, tampoco lo sacará cuando esté pensionado.

• El que no ama a su esposa con defectos y debilidades, tampoco la amaría si fuera perfecta.

• El que no agradece por su trabajo de operario, tampoco lo hará de presidente.

• El que se roba 100 pesos se robará 100 millones.

• El que ve pornografía cuando nadie lo ve, será infiel a su pareja cuando nadie lo vea.

• El que se queja en medio de la escasez, se quejará en la abundancia.

• El que se queja de su ciudad, se quejará en cualquier ciudad.

Hay un principio detrás de los pasajes que leímos hoy y es que "para tener mucho debes ser confiable con lo poco que tienes hoy". El asunto no está en lo externo, el problema está en el corazón.

Medita en ello, revisa tu corazón y examínate. ¿Eres fiel? ¿Eres agradecido? ¿Eres feliz con lo que tienes?

Un buen amigo en un momento de mi vida cuando yo estaba siempre afanado por el mañana, un día me dio un buen consejo, sus palabras vienen a mi mente cada vez que mi naturaleza infiel quiere gobernar mis pensamientos y mi corazón. Hoy te quiero dejar con esas palabras:

¡Disfruta el camino y llegarás a tu destino!

Enjoy the ride

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

Matthew 25:21 (NKJV)

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

The word "faithful" in both passages has the same etymological root: pistos, which means trustworthy, trustful, sure, true. The word "unjust", from the Greek root adikos means treacherous, wicked, evil, heathen.

In other words if you are not trustworthy with what you have (little or a lot), you will neither be with what you want to have. Or better yet, if you are treacherous with what you have, you will be treacherous with what you want.

It is common to find people who say things like:

• When I earn more money, then I will enjoy my family.

• When I have this or that, then I'll do this or that.

• If only I had more time, I could help others...

• If I became rich...

• If I had...

• If I had such a thing, then I would be happy.

The reality is that if we don’t do it with what we have, we won’t do it with what we want either.

• Him, who doesn’t help the poor with what he earns today, will not do so with what he expects to earn tomorrow.

• Him, who doesn’t enjoy his small uncomfortable house, will not enjoy the mansion he wants to have.

• Him, who doesn’t take time to pray under a busy schedule, won’t pray with lots of free time.

• Him, who doesn’t love his wife with her flaws and weaknesses, will not love her even if she was perfect.

• Him, who doesn’t thank for his work, won’t do it even as President of the company.

• Him, who steals 1 dollar, will steal 100 million dollars.

• Him, who watches pornography when nobody sees him, will cheat on his wife when nobody sees.

• Him, who complains in the midst of famine, will also complain in abundance.

• Him, who complains of his city, will complain in any other city.

There is a principle behind the passages we read today; it says that "if you want to have much, you need to be trustworthy in the least". The issue is not in the external things, the problem is deep inside in the human heart.

Meditate on this word, check your heart and examine yourself. Are you faithful? Are you thankful? Are you happy with what you have?

A good friend some time ago in a moment of my life when I was always worried about tomorrow, one day gave me good advice; his words come to my mind whenever my unjust nature wants to rule my thoughts and my heart. Today I want to leave you with these words as well:

Enjoy the ride and before you know it you will reach your destination!
