Sacando la basura (Taking out the trash)

Efesios 2:8-10 (NTV)

Dios los salvó por su gracia cuando creyeron. Ustedes no tienen ningún mérito en eso; es un regalo de Dios. La salvación no es un premio por las cosas buenas que hayamos hecho, así que ninguno de nosotros puede jactarse de ser salvo. Pues somos la obra maestra de Dios. Él nos creó de nuevo en Cristo Jesús, a fin de que hagamos las cosas buenas que preparó para nosotros tiempo atrás.

La Palabra de Dios nos enseña que TODOS estábamos muertos cuando Dios por su infinita misericordia nos rescató para darnos VIDA. ESTO QUIERE DECIR QUE DIOS NOS AMO SIENDO PECADORES. La pregunta es, ¿crees que Dios te ama por hacer algo hoy? Si siendo pecador y estando muerto (Efesios 2:5) Dios te amo, ¿crees que habiendo cobrado vida puedes hacer algo para que Él te ame más ahora? Quiero decirte que Dios no tiene niveles ni escalas de amor, el no ama poquito, ni ama más ni menos, tampoco ama mucho; Dios simplemente ama porque DIOS ES AMOR y CON AMOR ETERNO NOS HA AMADO.

Como vemos en el pasaje de hoy, la palabra dice que somos salvos por gracia y no por obras. Este punto es fundamental, pues muchas personas andan predicando doctrinas falsas que se derivan de la mala interpretación de esta profunda verdad. Algunos, abusan de la gracia de Dios (antinomianismo) y se dedican a pecar deliberadamente. Otros condicionan la salvación a las buenas obras (legalismo o cumplimiento absoluto de la ley de Dios como requisito para ser salvo y bendecido). La verdad, es que aunque somos salvos por medio de la gracia de Dios, y no debemos hacer nada para recibir este regalo, la gracia lo que hace es habilitarnos y empoderarnos para poder caminar en santidad. Entiende esto bien, ¡no es por caminar en santidad que serás salvo, es por ser salvo que podrás caminar en santidad!

Si eres de los que piensa que somos libres para pecar, estás muy equivocado. La realidad es que somos libres para NO PECAR. Hoy podemos escoger y decidir no hacerlo. Antes éramos esclavos del pecado, hoy el pecado está sometido a nosotros.

Es tu decisión si pecas o si te postras ante el pecado. Eres libre para decidir lo que antes no podías.

Anoche estaba preparando mi apartamento para recibir a las personas que se congregan con mi familia para adorar y exaltar a Jesús todos los sábados. Unos minutos antes de la hora de llegada de los invitados me di cuenta que había basura y desorden que debía despejarse para recibir a los invitados. Fue ahí, mientras sacaba la basura, que el Señor me inquietó a predicarles sobre este mensaje. La pregunta que me hizo el Espíritu de Dios es la misma que te quiero hacer hoy.

¿Si arreglas tu casa para recibir invitados imperfectos y pecadores como tú, por qué no arreglas tu vida para que yo pueda habitar en medio de un lugar santo y limpio?

Ezequiel 36:26-27 (NTV)

Les daré un corazón nuevo y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ustedes. Les quitaré ese terco corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón tierno y receptivo. Pondré mi Espíritu en ustedes para que sigan mis decretos y se aseguren de obedecer mis ordenanzas.

A pesar de la basura que hay en nuestro interior, el Espíritu de Cristo vive en nosotros (Gálatas 2:20; Colosenses 1:27); pero a diferencia de nuestros invitados a nuestras casas, Jesús mismo quiere ayudarnos a limpiar y sacar la basura que nos hace tanto daño. Es por eso que su gracia no solamente nos salva, sino que nos enseña (Tito 2:11-12) a santificarnos para Él y podamos así vivir en las obras preparadas de antemano para nosotros.

Aquel que ha sido invitado por medio de la fe a vivir en nosotros, ya limpió y pagó todo por nosotros. Jesús nos ama tanto que él saca la basura por nosotros. Solamente debemos permitirle acceder a las áreas ocultas.

Jesús les lavó los pies a sus discípulos. Hoy Él quiere lavar toda la suciedad de tu vida. Pero Él no puede hacerlo sin tu consentimiento. Él no puede obligarte si tú no se lo permites. Jesús toca a la puerta y espera que le abras. Abre la puerta de tu vida, “sacar la basura” implica dejar que Jesús sea quien limpie tu vida, tus pies tu casa. Deja qué Él entre y limpie contigo todo lo que hay que limpiar.

Taking out the trash

Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

The Word of God teaches us that we were all dead when God in his infinite mercy rescued us to give us life. THIS MEANS THAT GOD LOVED US BEING SINNERS. The question is: Do you believe God loves you because you’ve done something? If as a sinner and while being dead (Ephesians 2:5) God loved you, do you think that now that you live you can do something to make him love you more? I want to tell you that God has no levels or scales of love, he doesn’t love a little, or love more nor less, he doesn’t love much; God loves, period, because God is love and HE HAS LOVED US WITH ETERNAL LIFE.

As we see in today's passage, the word says we are saved by grace and not by works. This is important, because many people today preach false doctrines derived from the misinterpretation of this profound truth. Some abuse the grace of God (antinomianism) and are dedicated to deliberately sin. Other condition salvation to good works (legalism or full compliance of the law of God as a requirement to be saved and blessed). The truth is that we are saved through Gods grace, and we don’t need to do anything to receive this gift. His grace also empowers us and enables us to walk in holiness. Understand this. It’s not by walking in holiness that you will be saved; it’s by being saved that you will be able to walk in holiness!

If you are someone who thinks that we are free to sin, you are sadly mistaken. The reality is that we are free to decide NOT TO. Today we can pick and choose not to. Before, we used to be slaves to sin, today sin is submitted to us.

It's your decision to sin or to make sin bow down before you. You are free to decide over something you couldn’t decide before: to sin or not to sin.

Last night I was preparing my apartment to receive the people who gather with me and my family to worship and exalt Jesus every Saturday. A few minutes before my guest’s arrival, I realized that there was some trash and mess that needed to be cleaned. Then, while taking out the trash, the Lord disturbed me and asked me to preach this message that I’m now sharing with you today. The question that the Spirit of God asked me yesterday is the same one I want to make to you today.

If you clean your home to receive imperfect guests and sinners just like you, why not clean your life so that I may dwell in the midst of a holy and clean temple?

Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NTV)

And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

Despite the garbage within us, the Spirit of Christ is living in us (Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:27); but unlike our guests home, Jesus Himself wants to help clean and remove the garbage that damages us so much. His grace does not only save us, but also teaches us (Titus 2:11-12) to sanctify ourselves for Him so that we can do the good things planed for us long ago.

He who has been invited to live in us through faith, has cleaned and paid for us as well. Jesus loves us so much that he takes out the trash of our lives. All we have to do is grant Him access to hidden and dirty areas.

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. Today He wants to wash all the dirt of your life. But He cannot do it without your consent. He cannot force you if you will not allow Him. Jesus knocks at the door and expects it to be open. Open the door of your life, "take out the trash" means allowing Jesus to clean your life, your feet, and your house. Let him walk in to your life and clean everything that needs to be cleaned.
