¿Tienes comezón de oír? (Do you have itching ears?)

Porque vendrá tiempo cuando no sufrirán la sana doctrina, sino que teniendo comezón de oír, se amontonarán maestros conforme a sus propias concupiscencias, y apartarán de la verdad el oído y se volverán a las fábulas.

Hace unos días nuestro gato Zach ha venido presentando un malestar en sus oídos y esto le ha afectado todo su comportamiento. El tratamiento recetado por la doctora veterinaria, implica unos lavados y la aplicación de varios medicamentos. Aunque esto es bueno para Zach, cuando me ve sacando los medicamentos de su caja, él se esconde debajo de la mesa y me cuesta mucho poderle aplicarlos.

Esto me hace pensar en la gran mayoría de cristianos que hoy día se esconden de las iglesias o de las personas que predicamos la sana doctrina porque escuchar esto les produce comezón de oír. Es común encontrar "cristianos" que dicen, me gusta ir a esa iglesia porque el pastor predica bonito, y bonito muchas veces es igual a: "lo que yo quiero oír"; en otras palabras lo que están diciendo es: "voy a esa iglesia porque allá me predican lo que quiero oír". Yo les llamo cristianos a la carta. Cristianos que rechazan la verdad y aceptan la mentira que les agrada.

Así como hay dos tipos de cristianos: los que quieren oír la sana doctrina, y aquellos que no soportan oírla; también hay dos tipos de predicadores. Los que predican el mensaje que Dios les ha mandado, y los que predican lo que la gente quiere oír.

Es por eso que existe este blog de fe. Para predicar la palabra de Dios sin filtros, sin agendas humanas y sin intenciones personales. El mensaje de Jesús no fue popular y no le caía bien a los religiosos de la época, pero Él tenía muy claro que su ministerio no consistía en agradar a los hombres sino a Dios.

Gloria de los hombres no recibo.

Muchos hoy quieren un mensaje acomodado a sus necesidades y deseos, y por supuesto una palabra que viene de Dios siempre será mejor para el lector pues ella es "viva y eficaz, y más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos" (Hebreos 4:12). No siempre lo que Dios nos habla es lo que más nos gusta, pero si es siempre lo mejor para nosotros. Como padres, nosotros mismos muchas veces no le damos a nuestros hijos lo que ellos quieren sino lo que ellos necesitan, sabiendo que será lo mejor para ellos.

Si te pican los oídos al escuchar una palabra que confronta, NO TE ALEJES, esa es la verdadera palabra de vida y es la realmente eficaz. Aunque no sea agradable, sí es lo mejor para ti.

Oro a Dios por más personas que se levanten a predicar la palabra de Dios sin manipulación y engaño, y por más hombres y mujeres dispuestos a escuchar el mensaje que viene del cielo sin apartarse de la verdad.

Do you have itching ears?

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Some days ago our cat Zach has been presenting discomfort in his ears affecting his whole behavior. The treatment prescribed by the veterinary doctor, involves washing the ears and the application of various medications. Although this is good for Zach, when he sees me taking the medications out of the box, he hides under the table and I find it hard to apply them.

This makes me think of the vast majority of Christians that today are running from churches or people that preach sound doctrine because this message produces itching ears. It is common to find "Christians" that say, I like to go to that church because the pastor preaches pretty, and pretty often means: "what I want to hear"; in other words what they are saying is: "I go to that church because they preach what I want to listen." I call them Christians à la carte. Christians who reject the truth and accept the lies they like.

Just as there are two kinds of Christians: those who want to hear the sound doctrine, and those who cannot bear to hear it; there are also two types of preachers. Those who preach the message that God commanded them and those who preach what people want to hear.

That is why blog de fe exists. To preach the word of God without filters, without human agendas, and without personal intentions. Jesus' message was not popular and was not well received among the religious leaders of the time; but he had very clear that his ministry was not meant to please men but to please God.

I do not receive honor from men.

Many today want a message according to their needs and wishes, but a word that comes from God will always be better for us because the word is "living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12). What God tells us, isn’t usually what we like, but it’s always what’s best for us. As parents, we ourselves often don’t give our children what they want but what they need; we know what is best for them.

If your ears itch when you hear a word that confronts, DON´T RUN, this means it is the truly effective living word. Although it's not pleasant, it is what's best for you.

I pray to God for more people that stand up to preach the word of God without manipulation and deceit, and more men and women willing to hear the message from heaven without departing from the truth.
