La madurez espiritual: Prueba espiritual (The spiritual maturity: Spiritual test)

Apocalipsis 3:15-16 (RVR 1960)

Yo conozco tus obras, que ni eres frío ni caliente. ¡Ojalá fueses frío o caliente! Pero por cuanto eres tibio, y no frío ni caliente, te vomitaré de mi boca.

La obras nos permiten identificar nuestra temperatura espiritual. A esto se refería el apóstol Santiago cuando dijo "la fe sin obras es muertas" (Santiago 2:17).

A continuación presentaré 7 áreas que conforman la esencia de la vida todo cristiano. La idea es que puedas realizar una autoevaluación a conciencia para determinar tu nivel de madurez en cada una de ellas y al final identificar tu temperatura espiritual.

1. SANTIDAD (1 Pedro 1:16; Marcos 7:6; Hebreos 12:14): Esta palabra a muchos les causa picazón, pero realmente todo creyente esta empoderado por la gracia de Dios para vivir una vida en santidad. La santidad es lo que nos identifica como hijos de Dios. SANTIDAD, ES EL CARÁCTER DE DIOS REFLEJADO EN UNA PERSONA; es obedecer la palabra de Dios y ponerla por obra como consecuencia de haber sido salvados. Muchos creen que la santidad está pasada de moda, pero no es así. Nosotros tenemos el ADN de Dios nuestro Padre y como consecuencia podemos ser santos.

2. SERVICIO (Juan 12:26; Mateo 11:28-30; Mateo 6:33; 1 Pedro 4:10): La respuesta natural de nuestro espíritu cuando hemos conocido el amor incondicional de Dios y nacido de nuevo; es un anhelo profundo por servir a Dios. Cada uno de nosotros ha sido provisto con dones y talentos los cuales tienen como fin el establecimiento del reino de Dios en la tierra. Aunque el servicio no se limita solamente a la iglesia local, pues se puede servir a Dios literalmente en cualquier momento y en cualquier lugar, generalmente el creyente debe conectar con una congregación local y poner allí su tiempo, su talento y sus recursos a disposición para el avance del reino de los Cielos.

3. ALABANZA Y ADORACIÓN (Efesios 5:18-19; Juan 4:23): No me refiero solamente a la primera meda hora de cada servicio o reunión dominical. Por supuesto ese es un espacio importante y necesario de cada reunión; pero más que una canción de labios, el Señor está interesado en una vida que lo alabe y lo adore de corazón. La alabanza y la adoración se conoce como cánticos que proclaman el nombre de Dios, exaltan sus atributos y confiesan sus maravillas, eso mismo debe ser nuestro minuto a minuto, una vida que permanentemente deje su nombre en alto.

4. ESTUDIO DE LAS ESCRITURAS (Hebreos 4:12; Salmos 119:11): ¿Cuánto tiempo dedicas para leer, estudiar y escudriñar las escrituras? ¿Crees que la Biblia es la Palabra de Dios y que contiene la verdad absoluta? El cristiano promedio no conoce el Poder de las escrituras y nunca ha leído El Libro de tapa a tapa, de Génesis a Apocalipsis. La Biblia es el manual de instrucciones de Dios para el hombre. No leerla es desaprovechar una fuente llena de vida y sabiduría que hará tu vida mejor.

5. LA ORACIÓN (Mateo 6:6; 1 Tesalonicenses 5:17; Juan 17): Esta es tal vez en mi concepto una de las áreas más importantes, pues si uno es tibio en esta área, se será tibio en todas las demás. Aquel que no ora no puede pretender tener una vida espiritual fuerte. Jesús fue un claro ejemplo de oración, la Biblia muestra en los evangelios distintos momentos en los que Jesús oró al Padre de manera intima, publica, y con sus discípulos. Jesús nos dejó el modelo de la oración a Dios en el Padre Nuestro en Mateo 6, el modelo de oración intercesora en Juan 17 cuando oró por sus discípulos y Pablo en 1 Tesalonicenses 5:17 nos dice que debemos ora sin cesar. La vida de oración y de intimidad con Dios es la columna vertebral de la vida de todo cristiano. Dios está más interesado en lo que hacemos en lo íntimo, que en lo hacemos en público.

6. AMAR (Lucas 10:27; 1 Corintios 13; Hechos 20:35; 1 Juan 4:8): Nuestra vida debe estar fundamentada en el amor por Dios y por los demás. Jesús resumió TODA la ley en el amor. Si lo que hacemos no está movido por amor, venimos a ser como metal que resuena o címbalo que retiñe.

7. EVANGELIZAR (Mateo 28:19-20; Romanos 10:9-15): Hacer discípulos de Cristo es un mandato dado por Jesús. ¿Piensas que no es para ti? O simplemente no sientes compasión por el amigo, vecino, familiar o compañero de trabajo que no conoce a Jesús. No solamente estoy hablando de predicar el evangelio con palabras, sino de vivir el evangelio que predicas. Hay 2 frases que siempre me han impactado. "Lo que haces no me deja oír lo que dices." y "No se trata de cuanta Biblia has leído, sino de cuánto de la Biblia pueden los demás leer en ti".

Dios nos amó siendo pecadores, no hay nada que podamos hacer para que nos ame más o nos ame menos. La temperatura espiritual no afecta el amor de Dios hacia nosotros, sin embargo, esto no es una licencia para vivir una vida espiritual mediocre. Si vamos a ser cristianos, seamos buenos cristianos.

Revelation 3:15-16 (NKJV)

I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Works help us identify our spiritual temperature. This is what the Apostle James meant when he said "faith without works is dead" (James 2:17).

Here I will present 7 areas that make up the essence of every Christian life. The idea is that you can perform a self-conscious test to determine your level of maturity in each of them and finally identify your spiritual temperature.

1. HOLINESS (1 Peter 1:16; Mark 7:6; Hebrews 12:14): This word may cause itching to many, but every believer is empowered by the grace of God to live a life of holiness. Holiness is what identifies us as children of God. HOLINESS, IS GOD’S CHARACTER REFLECTED IN A PERSON; It is to obey God's word and perform it as a result of being saved. Many believe that holiness is outdated, but it is not. God is our Father and we have His DNA; as a result we can be holly.

2. SERVICE (John 12:26; Matthew 11:28-30; Matthew 6:33; 1 Peter 4:10): The natural response of our spirit when we know the unconditional love of God and are born again; is a deep desire to serve God. Each of us has been provided with gifts and talents which are intended to establish the kingdom of God on earth. Although service is not limited to the local church, you can serve God literally anytime, anywhere, usually the believer must be connected to a local congregation and make his time, talent and resources available to the advancement of the kingdom of heaven.

3. PRAISE AND WORSHIP (Ephesians 5:18-19; John 4:23): I am not only referring to the first half hour of each service or Sunday meeting. Of course this is an important and necessary space for each meeting; but more than a song of lips, the Lord is interested in a life that praises and worships him by heart. Praise and worship is known as songs that proclaim God's name, extol His attributes and confess His wonders; that should be our every minute, a life that permanently leaves His name up high.

4. SCRIPTURE STUDY (Hebrews 4:12; Psalms 119:11): How much time do you spent reading, studying, and inquiring the scriptures? Do you think the Bible is the Word of God and contains the absolute truth? The average Christian does not know the power of Scripture and have never read it cover to cover, from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible is the instruction manual given by God to man. Not reading it is wasting a source full of life and wisdom that will make your life better.

5. PRAYER (Matthew 6:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; John 17): This is in my opinion one of the most important areas, for if one is warm in this area, will be warm in all others. Someone who does not pray cannot expect to have a strong spiritual life. Jesus was a clear example of prayer, the Bible shows different times in the Gospels in which Jesus prayed to the Father intimately, publicly, and with His disciples. Jesus gave us the model prayer through the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6, the model of intercessory prayer in John 17 when he prayed for his disciples, and Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to pray without ceasing. The life of prayer and intimacy with God is the backbone of every Christian’s life. God is more interested in what we do in the intimate, than what we do in public.

6. LOVE (Luke 10:27; 1 Corinthians 13; Acts 20:35; 1 John 4:8): Our life must be based on love for God and others. Jesus summed up the whole law in love. If we are not moved by love, we become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.

7. EVANGELIZE (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 10:9-15): Making disciples of Christ is a mandate given by Jesus. Do you think it is not for you? Or do you not feel compassion for the friend, neighbor, relative or co-worker who does not know Jesus. I'm not just talking about preaching the gospel with words, but to live the gospel you preach. There are two phrases that have always confronted me. "What you do doesn’t let me hear what you say." and "It´s not about how much of the Bible you’ve read, but how much of the Bile can others read in you".

God loved us being sinners, there is nothing we can do for God to love us love us more or love us less. The spiritual temperature does not affect the love of God for us; however, this is not a license to live a mediocre spiritual life. If we are to be Christians, then let us be good Christians.
