Gálatas 5:16 (RVR 1960)

Digo, pues: Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne.

Nota antes que nada que la palabra Espíritu se encuentra con "E" mayúscula. Esto quiere decir que el fruto del que hablaremos es el del Espíritu Santo de Dios.

Como cristianos, estamos llamados a caminar, vivir, andar y conducir nuestra vida bajo la dirección del Espíritu Santo de Dios. El evangelismo verdadero no es predicar la palabra sino vivir la palabra.

Por eso el profeta Isaías habló de la hermosura de LOS PIES, de los que anuncian las buenas noticias de salvación. El profeta se refería claramente a un acto de predicar con ejemplo y no con palabras; por eso habla de los piés, los cuales usamos para caminar. La gente creerá por tu forma de caminar, no por tu forma de hablar. (Lee la reflexión ¿Tienes pies hermosos? acá)

Isaías 52:7 (NTV)

¡Qué hermosos son sobre los montes los pies del mensajero que trae buenas noticias, buenas noticias de paz y de salvación, las noticias de que el Dios de Israel reina!

Andar en el Espíritu, es muy diferente de lo que hoy muchos cristianos piensan. Hoy se cree que andar en el espíritu es andar hablando en lenguas, expulsando demonios, sanando enfermos y profetizando. Aunque estas manifestaciones de los dones del Espíritu son importantes y necesarias, Pablo aclara más adelante en el libro de Gálatas, que ANDAR en el Espíritu no es vivir ministrando los dones del Espíritu, sino evidenciando nuestra fe por medio de la manifestación del FRUTO del Espíritu.

Una cosa son los dones del Espíritu y otra el fruto del Espíritu. Los dones son regalos que pueden manifestarse en cualquier persona para bendición del cuerpo de Cristo. El fruto del Espíritu por su parte es la manifestación de la madurez del cristiano que vive una relación con Dios.

Hablemos hoy del fruto del Espíritu. Según el apóstol Pablo, hay 9 manifestaciones del fruto del Espíritu Santo en la vida del creyente.

Gálatas 5:22-23 (RVR 1960)

Mas el fruto del Espíritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fe, mansedumbre, templanza; contra tales cosas no hay ley.

La palabra fruto, viene del griego "karpós" que quiere decir resultar en beneficio. Esto es importante saberlo porque el fruto de la fe es un reultado producido por Dios mismo en la vida del creyente que tiene una relación personal con Cristo. El fruto es algo que nosotros no podemos producir separados de Jesús.

Jaun 15:5 (RVR 1960)

Yo soy la vid, vosotros los pámpanos; el que permanece en mí, y yo en él, éste lleva mucho fruto; porque separados de mí nada podéis hacer.

En el comentario bíblico de Mathew Henry el autor divide el fruto del Espíritu en tres categorías.

• AMOR, GOZO, PAZ: Se manifiesta en la relación con Dios.

• PACIENCIA, BENIGNIDAD, BONDAD: Se manifiesta en la relación con el prójimo.

• FE, MANSEDUMBRE, TEMPLANZA: Se manifiesta hacia el interior de uno mismo.

The fruit of the Spirit

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

As Christians, we are called to walk, live, move and lead our lives under the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God. True evangelism is not preaching the word but living the word.

The prophet Isaiah speaks of the beauty of the feet of those who preach the good news of salvation. The prophet clearly referred to an act of preaching by example and not with words; this is why he speaks of feet, which we use to walk. People will believe by the way you walk, not the way you talk. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!

To walk in the Spirit, is very different from what many Christians believe today. Today it is believed that walking in the Spirit is to walk and speak in tongues, casting out demons, healing the sick and prophesying. Although these manifestations of the gifts of the Spirit are important and necessary, Paul explains later in the book of Galatians, that to WALK in the Spirit is not constantly ministering the gifts of the Spirit, but showing our faith through the manifestation of the FRUIT of the Spirit.

One thing are the gifts of the Spirit and another the fruit of the Spirit. The gifts are freely given and they can manifest in anyone for the blessing of the body of Christ. The fruit of the Spirit is the manifestation of the maturity of a Christian having a relationship with God.

Let's talk today of the fruit of the Spirit. According to Paul, there are 9 manifestations of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

The word fruit comes from the Greek "karpos" which means result in a profit. It's important to know this, because the fruit of faith is produced by God himself in the life of the believer who has a personal relationship with Christ. The fruit is something we cannot produce apart from Jesus.

John 15:5 (NKJV)

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

In the biblical commentary of Matthew Henry the author divides the fruit in three categories.

• ALOVE, JOY, PEACE: It manifests itself in the relationship with God.

• LONGSUFFERING, KINDNESS, GOODNESS: It manifests itself in the relationship with others.

• FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF-CONTROL: It manifests into oneself.
