Lo más precioso (Faith of greater worth)

Para que sometida a prueba vuestra fe, mucho más preciosa que el oro, el cual aunque perecedero se prueba con fuego, sea hallada en alabanza, gloria y honra cuando sea manifestado Jesucristo.

¿Qué es lo que más valoras? Estos últimos 2 años, han sido llenos de pruebas y desafíos. Hemos vivido cosas que han transformado nuestra fe y nuestras vidas. Hoy, mi familia y yo, somos mucho más “puros en la fe” de lo que jamás habíamos sido. Aunque nos alejamos de la iglesia local donde nos congregamos y fuimos líderes por muchos años, nuestra fe hoy es mayor y nuestras convicciones son cada día más preciosas.

Muchos creen que porque ya no “servimos” de la manera tradicional en una iglesia, estamos alejados o enfriados. ¡Nada más falso que eso! Otros piensan que porque hemos vivido pruebas y procesos, esto es consecuencia de pecado o faltas en nuestras vidas. ¡Qué pensamiento tan absurdo y contrario a la gracia de Dios!

La verdad, es que aquel que es probado, es perfeccionado. Solamente aquel que es probado en su fe, puede madurar y crecer. Y solamente aquel que es pasado por fuego, puede dejar atrás sus impurezas.

En este tiempo, me he dado cuenta que lo más valioso que tengo, es mi fe. ¡Es mucho más preciosa que el oro!

En algunas Iglesias, le están enseñando a las personas a usar su fe para tener cosas. “Si crees, podrás tener un mejor carro, podrás tener la casa que quieres, el trabajo que quieres, etc…” Pero en este tiempo, en el cual renunciamos voluntariamente a todo lo que teníamos y nos definía, (trabajo, amigos, dinero, posesiones, a nuestra ciudad natal, a nuestra posición ministerial, etc…) nos hemos dado cuenta que la verdadera fe, es la que nos acerca a Dios y nos lleva a amarlo y depender de Él sin importar lo que tengamos o no tengamos. Lo bonito, es que Dios nos ha “devuelto” todas las cosas y más. Hoy, cuento con un mejor trabajo, tengo amigos verdaderos, el dinero y los bienes materiales no son un fin para mi, y hemos aprendido a relacionarnos con Dios al margen de los sistemas humanos.

En resumen, lo más valioso que tenemos es la fe. Lo demás es añadidura. Como dice el pasaje de hoy, la fe es más preciosa que el oro. ¿Qué es lo más precioso que tienes?

Faith of greater worth

1 Peter 1:6-7 (NIV)

These have come so that the proven genuinenessof your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

What do you value most? These past 2 years have been full of trials and challenges. We have experienced things that have transformed our faith and our lives. Today, my family and I have a "pure faith", purer than it had ever been before. Although we no longer attend the local church where we gather and were leaders for many years, our faith today is higher and our convictions are more precious by the minute.

Many believe that because we no longer "serve" in the traditional way in a church, we backslidden or cooled down. Nothing is more false than that! Others think that because we have lived trials and processes, this is a consequence of sin or mistakes in our lives. This thought is contrary to God's grace!

The truth is that one who is tested, is perfected. Only one who is tested in his faith can mature and grow. And only one who is tested through fire, can leave behind every impurity.

During this time I've realized that the most valuable thing I have is my faith. It's much more precious than gold!

In some churches, they are teaching people to use their faith in order to have things. "If you believe, you can have a better car, you can have the house you want, the job you want, etc ..." But during this time, in which we renounced voluntarily to everything we had and defined us, (work, friends, money , possessions, our hometown, our ministerial position, etc ...) we realized that true faith is that which brings us closer to God and leads us to love him and depend on him no matter what you have or do not have. The beautiful thing is that God has "given us back" all things and more. Today, I have a better job, I have real friends, money and possessions are not an end for me, and we have learned to relate to God regardless of human systems.

In short, the most valuable thing we have is faith. The rest is an addition. As today's passage reads, faith is greater than gold. What is the most precious thing you have?
