En verdes prados me deja descansar.

Esta declaración del salmista nos habla del descanso y reposo que podemos encontrar en Dios.

Aunque el verdadero descanso no se fundamenta en las situaciones externas sino en las condiciones internas del corazón, este descanso del que habla el Rey David, también implica descanso físico.

Las condiciones diarias y las dinámicas de nuestra sociedad actual, impiden que las personas dediquemos tiempo a descansar. Aún en vacaciones muchos no descansan pues se llevan consigo sus problemas y cargas lo que impide tener un verdadero reposo.

Considero que reposar y descansar de nuestras actividades diarias es fundamental y necesario. De hecho, el descanso es parte del plan de Dios para nuestras vidas y vemos desde el inicio de la creación (Génesis 2:2) que Dios descansó después de haber finalizado su obra. Así mismo el día de reposo fue instituido por Dios para su pueblo como un mandato (Exodo 20:8) y Jesús se refirió a este día como un día creado para nuestro beneficio (Marcos 2:27).

Hay una realidad y es el hecho de que el día de reposo siempre ha sido un día para adorar a Dios. Hoy los cristianos celebramos el día del Señor como conmemoración de la resurrección de Cristo. Esto muestra una gran verdad, y es que solamente podemos obtener verdadero reposo cuando estamos cerca de nuestro Dios. De hecho, Jesús dijo lo siguiente:

Luego dijo Jesús: «Vengan a mí todos los que están cansados y llevan cargas pesadas, y yo les daré descanso. Pónganse mi yugo. Déjenme enseñarles, porque yo soy humilde y tierno de corazón, y encontrarán descanso para el alma. Pues mi yugo es fácil de llevar y la carga que les doy es liviana».

A veces la lógica de Dios es contraria a la lógica humana. Este pasaje es muy conocido, en especial en su primera parte. "Vengan a mí todos los que están cansados y llevan cargas pesadas, y yo les daré descanso" . Sin embargo, la clave para obtener ese descanso está en la segunda parte de este pasaje. Jesús dice que para tener ese descanso debemos llevar su yugo.

El yugo implica trabajo en equipo y habla de un trabajo pesado. Sin embargo, Jesús no solamente nos promete que su yugo es fácil de llevar, sino que nos asegura que la recompensa de llevar su yugo es el descanso para nuestra alma.

Yo creo que el yugo de Jesucristo se refiere al establecimiento del Reino de los Cielos. En otras palabras, cuando trabajamos para que el Reino de los Cielos se establezca, hallamos verdadero descanso para nuestra alma.

Gracias Dios porque nos permites descansar en verdes prados y hallar descanso para nuestra alma.

Psalms 23:2a (NLT)

He lets me rest in green meadows.

This statement of the Psalmist speaks of the rest and relaxation that can be found in God.

Although the true rest is not based on external situations but in the internal conditions of the heart, King David, is speaking of a rest that also involves physical rest.

The daily conditions and the dynamics of our society, are preventing people from taking time to rest. Even on vacation many do not rest since they carry their problems and burdens with them, and this prevents them from having a true disconnection.

I believe that rest and from our daily activities is essential and necessary. In fact, rest is part of God's plan for our lives and we see this from the beginning of creation (Genesis 2: 2) when God rested after completing his work. Likewise, the Sabbath was instituted by God for his people as a command (Exodus 20: 8) and Jesus referred to this day as a day created for our benefit (Mark 2:27).

The Sabbath has always been a day to worship God. Today Christians celebrate the Lord's Day as a commemoration of the resurrection of Christ. This shows a great truth: we can only get true rest when we are close to our God. In fact, Jesus said:

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Sometimes the logic of God is contrary to human logic. This passage is well known, especially in its first part. "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest". However, the key to getting this rest is found in the second part of this passage. Jesus says that in order to have true rest, we should take his yoke upon us.

A yoke involves teamwork and speaks of hard work. However, Jesus not only promises us that His yoke is easy to carry, but assures us that the reward for taking up His yoke is rest for our souls.

I believe that the yoke of Jesus Christ refers to the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven. In other words, when we work for the Kingdom of Heaven to be established, we find real rest for our souls.

Thank you God because you let us rest in green meadows and allow us to find rest for our souls.
