Aun cuando yo pase por el valle más oscuro, no temeré, porque tú estás a mi lado. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine]

Hemos venido desarrollando una serie sobre el Salmo 23. Hasta ahora, hemos visto verdades fundamentales sobre nuestra relación con Dios como nuestro Pastor quien nos provee, nos da paz descanso y reposo, nos restaura, nos sana y nos guía por amor a Su nombre.

En este pasaje, vemos el contraste de dos verdades. La primera es que aunque Dios nos cuida y nos pastorea, vamos a pasar por momentos de dificultad (el salmista los llama valles oscuros). La segunda verdad, es que Dios estará de nuestro lado aun en esos valles oscuros y es por esto que NO DEBES TEMER.

La primera verdad habla de PRUEBA Y TRIBULACIÓN, la segunda nos habla de UN DIOS QUE CUIDA DE NOSOTROS Y NOS PROTEGE.

Aunque cuando propuse escribir esta serie sobre el Salmo 23, definí utilizar la versión de la Biblia NTV (Nueva Traducción Viviente), este fragmento en particular me veo obligado a citarlo también en la Reina Valera dado que en la NTV se pierde una profunda revelación que trae este pasaje.

Salmos 234a (RVR 1960)

Aunque ande en valle de sombra de muerte, No temeré mal alguno, porque tú estarás conmigo.

Quiero hablar específicamente del termino "valle de sombra de muerte", porque lo que nos está diciendo es que la prueba y la dificultad es tan solo una sombra.

Entender que la muerte y las pruebas que vivimos son una sombra es algo poderoso. ¿Por qué? ¡Porque una sombra no puede hacernos daño! No importa cuán grande sea una sombra, ésta nunca nos podrá hacer daño. Cuando una persona entrega su vida a Jesucristo como Señor y Salvador, en ese momento tiene VIDA ETERNA; esto no quiere decir que no muera corporalmente, pues todos moriremos algún día, pero lo que significa es que su espíritu está destinado a pasar la eternidad junto a Jesús en la presencia de Dios. Es por esto que el salmista proféticamente decía que no temería cuando caminara en el valle de la SOMBRA de muerte. Cuando estamos con Jesús, la muerte y las pruebas terrenales son solamente una sombra, una insignificante sombra que no tiene poder sobre nosotros.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.

We have been developing a series on Psalm 23. So far, we have seen fundamental truths about our relationship with God as our Shepherd who provides for us, gives us peace rest and relaxation, restores us, heals us and guides us for His name's sake.

In this passage, we see the contrast of two truths. The first one is that although God cares for us and shepherds us, we will go through moments of difficulty (the psalmist calls them the darkest valley). The second truth is that God is on our side even in these darkest valley and this is why you WILL. NOT BE AFRAID

The first truth speaks of TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS, the second one speaks of A GOD WHO CARES FOR US AND PROTECTS US.

Although when I proposed writing this series on Psalm 23, I determined that I would be using the NLT (New Living Translation) version of the Bible, for this particular fragment I am forced to also quote the King James since in the NTV a profound revelation is lost.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.

I want to talk specifically about the term "valley of the shadow of death" because what this is telling us is that the trials and the difficulties we face in life are merely a shadow.

Understanding that death and the trials we face is a shadow is powerful. Why? Because a shadow cannot harm us! No matter how great a shadow is, it can never hurt us. When a person gives his life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, then he has ETERNAL LIFE; this does not mean that he will not die physically, since we all will die someday, but what it means is that his spirit is destined to spend eternity with Jesus in the presence of God. This is why the psalmist prophetically said that he would not fear when walking through the valley of the shadow of death. When we are with Jesus, death and trials are only a shadow; a tiny shadow that has no power over us.
