Quita la piedra (Roll the stone away)

Hebreos 11:6 (RVR 1960)

Pero sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios; porque es necesario que el que se acerca a Dios crea que le hay, y que es galardonador de los que le buscan.

La Biblia enseña que sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios, y en Santiago 2:17 dice que la fe sin obras es muerta. Esto quiere decir que la fe se demuestra con acciones. En otras palabras, la fe es una manifestación externa de una convicción interna.

En nuestra vida enfrentamos permanentemente situaciones adversas que nos permiten ejercitar nuestra fe. Puede ser que estés pasando un problema financiero, una enfermedad, dificultad en tu matrimonio, desafíos en el trabajo. Sea cual sea la situación, siempre que enfrentas un desafío Dios espera que reacciones con fe. Pero fe no es quedarte paralizado confiando en que Él te va a resolver el problema, fe es actuar creyendo que Dios ya lo resolvió.

Pedro dio el primer paso sobre las aguas caminando hacia lo imposible. Eso es fe. Fe es tener la convicción absoluta de que lo que NO VEMOS sucederá. La fe nos moviliza hacia la conquista de los desafíos.

Hay una historia que le da el nombre a la enseñanza de hoy. La Biblia enseña que Lázaro murió y cuando llevaba cuatro días muerto, Jesús se presentó en el lugar para hacer lo imposible. Jesús intencionalmente esperó hasta que el cuerpo hedía para que fuera absolutamente imposible que Lázaro estuviera vivo; al cuarto día el cuerpo ya estaba en proceso de descomposición. Él no quería dejar duda alguna de que su poder sería el que haría el milagro. En ocasiones enfrentamos situaciones donde ya parece imposible una solución. Te tengo una buena noticia: ése es el escenario perfecto para que se manifieste el poder de Jesús. Al llegar Jesús al sepulcro, esto fue lo que sucedió:

Juan 11:39 (RVR 960)

Dijo Jesús: Quitad la piedra. Marta, la hermana del que había muerto, le dijo: Señor, hiede ya, porque es de cuatro días.

Para agradar a Dios se necesita fe. Para que Dios opere lo sobrenatural, tú debes hacer lo natural. Para que suceda lo imposible tú debes hacer lo posible. Para que Dios resucite tu problema, tú debes remover la piedra de duda que no permite que Él actúe. Quitar la piedra era la forma de demostrar fe. Marta necesitaba un milagro; Jesús necesitaba ver fe. "Quitad la piedra". Ante la duda de Marta, Jesús le dice:

Jesús le dijo: ¿No te he dicho que si crees, verás la gloria de Dios?

En otras palabras, lo que Jesús necesitaba para manifestar el poder y la gloria de Dios era que Marta manifestara su fe quitando la piedra de duda que impedía ver el milagro. Fue solamente hasta que rodaron la piedra que Lázaro resucitó.

Juan 11:41-44 (RVR 1960)

Entonces quitaron la piedra de donde había sido puesto el muerto. Y Jesús, alzando los ojos a lo alto, dijo: Padre, gracias te doy por haberme oído. Yo sabía que siempre me oyes; pero lo dije por causa de la multitud que está alrededor, para que crean que tú me has enviado. Y habiendo dicho esto, clamó a gran voz: ¡Lázaro, ven fuera! Y el que había muerto salió, atadas las manos y los pies con vendas, y el rostro envuelto en un sudario. Jesús les dijo: Desatadle, y dejadle ir.

¿Cuál es la piedra que necesitas quitar para ver la gloria de Dios en tu vida? ¿Será que te falta fe? ¿Estás como Marta, viendo el problema en lugar del poder de Dios?

Quizá tu problema hiede ya porque es de cuatro días (mucho tiempo muerto). Es probable que, así como Marta, te has enfocado en ver el problema en lugar de ver la solución. Dios es más grande que tu problema. Solamente debes creer para ver la gloria de Dios.

Hay un paso de fe que debes dar, una piedra que quitar. Solamente tú sabes cuál es esa piedra; hoy Dios está esperando que tú hagas lo posible para que Él pueda hacer lo imposible.

Roll the stone away

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The Bible teaches that without faith it is impossible to please God, and James 2:17 says that faith without works is dead. This means that faith is demonstrated by actions. In other words, faith is an outward manifestation of an inner conviction.

In our lives we continually face adverse situations that allow us to exercise our faith. You may be having financial trouble, sickness, difficulty in your marriage, challenges at work. Whatever the situation is, when you face a challenge, God expects you to respond with faith. But faith is not staying, still waiting for Him to solve the problem; faith is acting while believing that God will solve it.

Peter took the first step over the water walking towards the impossible. That is faith. Faith is to have the absolute conviction that WHAT WE CAN’T SEE will happen. Faith moves us to conquer our challenges.

Today’s reflection is named after a biblical story. The Bible teaches that Lazarus had died and had been dead for four days; Jesus appeared in place to do the impossible. Jesus intentionally waited until the body stank, to make sure it was absolutely impossible for Lazarus to be alive; on the fourth day the body was already in the process of decomposition. He did not want to leave any doubt that it was because of His power that the miracle happened. Sometimes we face situations where a solution seems impossible. I have good news: this is the perfect setting for the power of Jesus to be revealed. When Jesus came to the tomb, this is what happened:

John 11:39 (NKJV)

Jesus said, “Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

To please God, faith is required. For God to operate in the supernatural, you must do the natural. For the impossible to happen, you must do the possible. For God to resurrect your problem, you must first remove the stone of uncertainty that does not allow Him to act. Removing the stone was a way of demonstrating faith. Martha needed a miracle; Jesus needed to see faith. "Take away the stone." When Martha doubted, Jesus said:

John 11:40 (NKJV)

Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”

In other words, what Jesus needed to demonstrate God’s power and glory, was for Martha to show her faith by removing the stone of doubt that prevented the miracle from ocurring. It was only until the stone was rolled, that Lazarus was resurrected.

John 11:41-44 (NKJV)

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Which stone needs to be removed in order for you to see the glory of God in your life? Could it be that you lack faith? Are you like Martha, looking at the problem rather than at the power of God?

Maybe your problem stinks already because it’s been dead four days (too long). You probably do not see a solution and like Martha, you’ve focused on the problem rather than on the solution. God is bigger than your problem. You must believe to see the glory of God.

There is a step of faith that you must take, a stone to remove. Only you know what that stone is; today God is expecting you to do what’s possible so that He can do the impossible.
