Agua en vino (Water into wine)

Juan 2:7-11 (TLA)

Jesús les dijo a los sirvientes: «Llenen de agua esas tinajas.»Los sirvientes llenaron las tinajas hasta el borde. Luego Jesús les dijo: «Ahora, saquen un poco y llévenselo al encargado de la fiesta, para que lo pruebe.»Así lo hicieron. El encargado de la fiesta probó el agua que había sido convertida en vino, y se sorprendió, porque no sabía de dónde había salido ese vino. Pero los sirvientes sí lo sabían.Enseguida el encargado de la fiesta llamó al novio y le dijo: «Siempre se sirve primero el mejor vino, y luego, cuando ya los invitados han bebido bastante, se sirve el vino corriente. Tú, en cambio, has dejado el mejor vino para el final.» Jesús hizo esta primera señal en Caná de Galilea. Así empezó a mostrar el gran poder que tenía, y sus discípulos creyeron en él.

Siempre me he preguntado por qué el primer milagro hecho por Jesús fue convertir el agua en vino. Independientemente de las polémicas que se forman al rededor de si el vino era vino alcohólico o no, me quiero enfocar en el hecho de que uno de los significados más aceptados del vino en la Biblia es el gozo y la felicidad.

Lo primero que hace Jesús en el corazón que se rinde ante Él, es llenarlo de gozo. La gente hoy día vive llena de amargura en su corazón. A todo nivel, en toda clase social y en cualquier esfera, diariamente me encuentro con personas llenas de amargura a quienes se les dificulta enormemente disfrutar la vida.

Jesús tiene el poder para tomar una vida vacía, y convertirla en una vida llena de gozo. Él mismo se presentó como la vid verdadera.

Juan 15:1 (RVR 1960)

Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi Padre es el labrador.

Podemos buscar felicidad y plenitud en todo lo que este mundo ofrece, pero esa felicidad es pasajera. Solamente Jesús nos puede dar el verdadero gozo y la verdadera felicidad eterna. Esa felicidad está por encima de las circunstancias humanas. Es el mismo gozo que Jesús tuvo al soportar sus aflicciones y sufrimientos.

Hebreos 12:2 (NTV)

Esto lo hacemos al fijar la mirada en Jesús, el campeón que inicia y perfecciona nuestra fe. Debido al gozo que le esperaba, Jesús soportó la cruz, sin importarle la vergüenza que esta representaba. Ahora está sentado en el lugar de honor, junto al trono de Dios.

No busques la felicidad en las cosas materiales, éstas vienen y van. Busca la felicidad en Jesús, autor de nuestra fe, en quien recibimos recompensa eterna.

Water into wine

John 2:7-11 (NLT)

Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said,“Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

I've always wondered why the first miracle performed by Jesus was turning water into wine. Regardless of the controversies that form around whether the wine was alcoholic wine or not, I want to focus on the fact that one of the most accepted meanings of wine in the Bible is joy and happiness.

The first thing Jesus does in the heart that surrenders to Him, is fill it with joy. People today live full of bitterness in their heart. At every level, in every social class and in any sphere, I daily encounter with people full of bitterness who find an enormous difficulty to enjoy life.

Jesus has the power to take an empty life, and turn it into a life full of joy. He presented himself as the true grapevine.

John 15:1 (NLT)

I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.

We can find happiness and fulfillment in everything this world has to offer, but that happiness is fleeting. Only Jesus can give us true joy and true eternal happiness. That happiness is above human circumstances. It is the same joy that Jesus had when He endured His afflictions and sufferings.

Hebrews 12:2 (NLT)

Do not seek happiness in material things, they come and go. Seek happiness in Jesus, author of our faith, in whom we receive eternal reward.
