Porque la palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más cortante que toda espada de dos filos.

Para los creyentes, la Biblia es el fundamento de nuestra fe, es la luz que alumbra nuestro camino, es la espada de dos filos que nos sirve de arma para enfrentar el mundo espiritual y el natural, es la Palabra de Dios, es infalible y es verdad; la Biblia nos revela el plan de Dios, su naturaleza, y su poder. Este libro tiene unas características únicas que le proveen una autoridad única. El autor de la Biblia es Dios mismo, Él dejó su palabra por medio de hombres que escribieron cada letra inspirados por el Espíritu Santo. ¡Es un libro vivo!

Sin embargo, esa Biblia que acabo de describir, es la misma que muchos tienen empolvándose en una biblioteca, o en el "mejor" de los casos abierta en Salmos 91 esperando que esta les provea de una mágica protección. De esto hablaré más adelante en otro blog, pero el libro por sí solo no tiene poder alguno. Lo que cobra vida y lo que tiene poder son sus palabras grabadas en el corazón del creyente y las mismas siendo vida en cada uno de nosotros.

Muchos hoy en día cuestionan la Biblia. Cuestionan su autoría, cuestionan su contenido y cuestionan su veracidad. Como fundamento de nuestra fe, si la Biblia fuera un invento de hombres, podríamos afirmar que nuestra fe también lo es y de paso Dios, Jesús, el Espíritu Santo y todo el mensaje del evangelio.

Aunque normalmente para responder a estos y otros cuestionamientos, generalmente me toma 2 o 3 sesiones de estudio bíblico, permíteme hacer un resumen que te permita entender algunas verdades acerca de la Biblia y afianzar así tu fe. Debo aclarar sin embargo que en mi caso personal lo que más me ha llevado a asegurar mi creencia en que la Biblia es la Palabra de Dios, es el poder de cada palabra transformando mi vida y la de mi familia.

La Biblia está compuesta por 66 libros los cuales fueron escritos por aproximadamente 40 autores distintos procedentes de diversas culturas, clases sociales y épocas de la historia. Estos libros fueron escritos en un periodo de 1600 años, es decir 60 generaciones y se escribieron en contextos diferentes de mucho contraste; épocas de paz, de guerra, de abundancia y de escases, tiempos de auge y de persecución. Moisés escribió en el desierto, Jeremías desde una cárcel, Pablo en prisión, Lucas en viajes misioneros, Juan en la isla de Patmos, y así sucesivamente.

Geográficamente la Biblia fue escrita desde 3 continentes (África, Asia y Europa) y en 3 idiomas distintos (Hebreo, Arameo y Griego). Su contenido presenta una norma de moralidad, un plan de salvación y un sistema de doctrina que demuestran que su autor intelectual es uno, el Espíritu Santo. En toda ella encontramos una armonía asombrosa, sin contradicción, ni errores ni conflictos fundamentales.

Acompáñame en el siguiente ejercicio:

Imagínate que tomáramos 10 personas de diferentes lugares y les pidiéramos que escribieran sobre un tema particular. Luego tomemos lo que escribió cada una de estas personas y juntémoslo a ver qué sale. ¿Crees que ese escrito sería coherente de tapa a tapa? ¿Tendría un mismo hilo conductor? ¿Trataría de lo mismo? Es probable que tuviéramos en nuestras manos un disparate. Poner de acuerdo a 10 personas es difícil y mucho más lograr que escriban coherentemente sin contradicción sobre un tema tan controversial como la fe y la religión.

La Biblia, un libro que a pesar de la forma como se escribió es perfecto, coherente y consistente. 1600 años, 40 autores, 3 continentes, 3 idiomas, muchas culturas, diferentes clases sociales y aun así pareciera que tuviera un único autor quien escribió todo en un mismo momento. Pues así fue.

Who wrote the Bible?

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

For believers, the Bible is the foundation of our faith, and the light that illuminates our path, it's the two-edged sword that serves as a weapon to face the spiritual and natural realms, is the Word of God, it's infallible, it's true; the Bible reveals God's plan, its nature and its power. This book has some unique features that provide a unique authority to it. The author of the Bible is God Himself; He gave his word to us through men who wrote each letter being inspired by the Holy Spirit. It's a living book!

However, the Bible I just described is the same one that many have gathering dust in a library, or in the "best" case scenario, opened in Psalm 91 hoping that the book will provide a magical protection. I will discuss this later in another blog, but the book itself has no power. What comes to life and has true power are the words engraved on the heart of the believer and the same words becoming life in each one of us.

Many today question the Bible and its authority. The Bibles authorship is questioned; some question its content and question its veracity. As the foundation of our faith, if the Bible were an invention of men, we could affirm that our faith, God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the entire gospel message are false inventions.

Although normally to answer these and other questions, it usually takes me 2 or 3 sessions of Bible study, let me give a short message that allows you to understand some truths about the Bible and thus strengthen your faith. I must clarify, however, that in my case what has taken me to a conviction that the Bible is the Word of God, is the power of every word transforming my life and my family.

The Bible consists of 66 books which were written by approximately 40 different authors from different cultures, social classes and ages of history. These books were written over a period of 1600 years, 60 generations and were written in different contexts of high contrast; times of peace and of war, of abundance and scarcity, of faith booming and times of persecution. Moses wrote in the desert, Jeremiah from prison, Paul in jail, Luke on mission trips, John on the island of Patmos, and so on.

Geographically speaking, the Bible was written in 3 continents (Africa, Asia and Europe) and in 3 different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek). Its content presents a standard of morality, a plan of salvation and a system of doctrine showing that its mastermind is one, the Holy Spirit. In the whole book we find amazing harmony without contradiction, neither fundamental conflicts nor errors.

Join me in the following exercise:

Imagine that we took 10 people from different background and asked them to write on a particular subject. Then let us take what each of these people wrote and put it together to see what happens. Do you think the writing would be consistent from cover to cover? Would the subject be the same? Would it say the same things? It's most likely that we would have in our hands a masterpiece of nonsense. To make 10 people agree is a difficult task, now, to get them to write coherently without contradiction on such a controversial subject as faith and religion; that would require a miracle!

The Bible, a book that despite the way it was written is perfect, coherent and consistent. 1600 years in the writing, 40 authors, 3 continents, 3 languages, many cultures, different social classes and still seems to have a single author who wrote it all at the same time. Why, because his author is one person:

THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD!
