El nacimiento, vida, muerte y resurrección de Cristo son un hecho que fue profetizado más de 300 veces en el Antiguo Testamento en lo que se conoce como las profecías Mesiánicas. Los datos históricos a favor de la existencia de Cristo son contundentes y no hay duda alguna de su existencia, crucifixión, sepelio y resurrección. Cristo, no solo marcó y dividió la historia de la humanidad, sino que sigue trasformando vidas hoy y millones de personas tienen a la persona de Jesús como fundamento de su fe.

Así mismo, de la manera en que Jesús pisó esta tierra hace más de 2000 años, la esperanza Cristiana es que Jesús regresará. Esto es un hecho real el cual fue revelado por el mismo Jesús, predicado por los apóstoles y previsto por los profetas desde la época del Antiguo Testamento miles de años atrás.

La información que podemos obtener de la Biblia acerca de este hecho es clara y contundente. Aun así, es de sorprender la ignorancia, manipulación y engaño que se genera alrededor de este tema. Es por esto, que después del eclipse lunar de anoche o la “luna de sangre”, he decidido a partir de la especulación que un evento como éste genera, escribir algunos puntos sobre la segunda venida de Jesucristo.

Este evento ha llegado a conocerse como el Arrebatamiento o el Rapto. La palabra “rapto” o “arrebatamiento” no aparece textualmente en ninguna parte de la Biblia, sin embargo el evento sí. La palabra usada viene del griego “harpazo” que significa arrebatar y agarrar, y se encuentra en:

1 Tesalonicenses 4:16-17 (RVR 1960)

Porque el Señor mismo con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero. Luego nosotros los que vivimos, los que hayamos quedado, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.

¿Cuándo regresará? Esta pregunta ha fascinado a los hombres. Desde los discípulos de Jesús, hasta el día de hoy nos seguimos haciendo una pregunta sin respuesta.

Mateo 24:3, 36 (RVR 1960)

Más tarde estaba Jesús sentado en el monte de los Olivos, cuando llegaron los discípulos y le preguntaron en privado: ¿Cuándo sucederá eso, y cuál será la señal de tu venida y del fin del mundo?; Pero en cuanto al día y la hora, nadie lo sabe, ni siquiera los ángeles en el cielo, ni el Hijo, sino sólo el Padre.

Jesús fue claro, el día y la hora de su regreso NADIE SABE, ni aún los ángeles de los cielos, ni aun JESÚS lo sabía, solamente Dios el Padre lo sabe.

¿Cómo lo sabremos cuando venga? El regreso de Jesús sucederá como relámpago en un abrir y cerrar de ojos.

Porque como el relámpago que sale del oriente y se muestra hasta el occidente, así será también la venida del Hijo del Hombre.

1 Corintios 15:52 (NTV)

Sucederá en un instante, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, cuando se toque la trompeta final. Pues, cuando suene la trompeta, los que hayan muerto resucitarán para vivir por siempre. Y nosotros, los que estemos vivos, también seremos transformados.

No habrá ninguna advertencia de la venida de Cristo; Él regresará sin advertencia alguna así como un ladrón en la noche llega sin advertencia. Por tanto, la Biblia nos dice que debemos estar preparados porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá a la hora menos esperada.

La Biblia menciona muchas señales que se deben cumplir y las cuales anuncian el regreso de Cristo; sin embargo, es un error pensar que lo que detiene su regreso es el hecho de que las señales no hayan sucedido, y también que una vez sucedan entonces inmediatamente Él regresará. Jesús regresará cuando Dios Padre quiera y la razón de su tardanza no es que no se cumplan las señales. La razón de su tardanza es el amor y la misericordia que Dios tiene hacia aquellos que no se han arrepentido (2 Pedro 3:9). Si las señales tienen que suceder, Dios las puede hacer suceder en un instante para que Jesús regrese.

En lugar de enfocarnos en lo que no podemos saber y controlar (la fecha de su regreso y las señales), quiero invitarte a enfocarte en lo que sí puedes y debes controlar.

Por lo tanto, manténganse despiertos, porque no saben qué día vendrá su Señor. Pero entiendan esto: Si un dueño de casa supiera a qué hora de la noche va a llegar el ladrón, se mantendría despierto para no dejarlo forzar la entrada. Por eso también ustedes deben estar preparados, porque el Hijo del hombre vendrá cuando menos lo esperen.

Estar despierto implica estar alerta en nuestra fe. Debemos vivir cada día como si Jesús regresara en el próximo minuto. Cuando Él regrese, no tendremos tiempo de nada. Solo alcanzaremos a parpadear, pero no podremos ponernos a cuentas con Dios ni con los hombres. Por eso mi invitación es a vivir una vida de fe, una vida que agrade a Dios y que esté siempre alineada con sus principios y su palabra. El hecho de que su regreso se demore, no debe ser excusa para vivir una vida desordenada; hacerlo traerá consecuencias que se pueden evitar.

Lo castigará severamente y le impondrá la condena que reciben los hipócritas. Y habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes.

Si aún no has entregado tu vida a Jesús, solamente debes pedirle que entre a tu vida, a tu corazón y more en ti. Jesús no viene a nuestras vidas por lo bien que nos portemos; nos portamos bien, porque Él vino a nuestras vidas. Si le has entregado tu vida, pero no llevas una vida de fe que agrade a Dios, pídele al Espíritu Santo que te enseñe por medio de su gracia a vivir una vida excelente y disponte a obedecerlo. Tu responsabilidad sobre el regreso de Cristo es desear su regreso, velar y orar, y clamar por la paz de Israel (Salmos 122:6).

In the twinkling of an eye

The birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ are a fact that was prophesied over 300 times in the Old Testament in what is known as the Messianic prophecies. Historical data for the existence of Christ is strong and there is no doubt of his life, crucifixion, burial and resurrection. Christ did not only mark and divided the history of mankind, but He is still transforming lives today, and millions of people today have the person of Jesus as the foundation of their faith.

Just like Jesus came to earth 2000 years ago, our Christian hope is that Jesus will return. This is a fact which was revealed by Jesus himself, preached by the apostles, and seen by the prophets of the Old Testament thousands of years ago.

The information we get from the Bible about this fact is clear and compelling. Still, it is surprising the level of ignorance, manipulation and deceit that is generated around this topic. This is why, after last night's lunar eclipse or "moon of blood", and the speculation that an event like this generates, I have decided to write some truths about the second coming of Jesus Christ.

This event has become known as the Rapture. The word "rapture" does not literally appear in the Bible, but the event itself does. The word used is the Greek "harpazo" meaning catch up, catch away, pluck, pull, take by force, and is located in:

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NKJV)

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

When will he return? This question has fascinated men. Since the disciples of Jesus, until today we keep asking a question that has no answer.

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”; But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Jesus was clear saying that the day and time of his return NO ONE knows, not even the angels of heaven, not even JESUS knew, only God the Father knows it.

How will we know it? The Return of Jesus will happen as lightning and in the blink of an eye.

For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

1 Corinthians 15:52 (NLT)

It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.

There will be no warning of the second coming of Christ; He will return without warning like a thief in the night arrives without warning. Therefore, the Bible tells us to be ready because the Son of Man will come at the most unexpected time.

The Bible mentions many signs that must be met and which announce the return of Christ; however, it is a mistake to think that what’s holding him back is the fact that the signals have not happened, and to think that he will return immediately after the signs occur. Jesus is coming when God the Father wants and the reason for the delay is not that the signals are not met. The reason for the delay is the love and mercy that God has toward those who have not repented (2 Peter 3:9). If the signals have to happen, God can make them happen in an instant so Jesus can return.

Instead of focusing on what we cannot know and control (the date of his return and the signals), I invite you to focus on what you can and should control.

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Keeping watch means being alert in our faith. We should live each day as if Jesus returned in the next minute. When He returns, we will not have time for anything. It will occur in the twinkling of an eye, but we will not be able to get right with God and with men. So my invitation is for you to live a life of faith, a life that pleases God and is always aligned with His principles and word. The fact that his return is delayed should not be an excuse to live a disordered life; this will bring consequences that can be avoided.

And he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

If you have not given your life to Jesus, you only have to ask Him to come into your life, your heart and dwell in you. Jesus comes into our lives not by how well we live our lives; we behave well, because He comes into our lives. If you've given your life to Jesus, but do not live a life of faith that pleases God, ask the Holy Spirit to teach you through His grace to live a good life and get ready to obey. Your responsibility for the return of Christ is to desire his return, watch and pray, and pray for peace in Israel (Psalm 122: 6).
