¿Tienes pies hermosos? (Are your feet beautiful?)

Santiago 2:17-18 (RVR 1960)

Así también la fe, si no tiene obras, es muerta en sí misma. Pero alguno dirá: Tú tienes fe, y yo tengo obras. Muéstrame tu fe sin tus obras, y yo te mostraré mi fe por mis obras.

Hoy en día vivimos tal vez en la época de mayor avivamiento y crecimiento del cristianismo en el mundo. Cada vez hay más: literatura cristiana; medios de comunicación cristianos; educación cristiana; empresas cristianas; mega templos cristianos; actividades evangélicas, mega eventos, conciertos y espectáculos cristianos; cristianos en posiciones de influencia (deportes, política, arte, cine etc.); pastores, apóstoles, profetas, evangelistas y maestros cristianos; y muchas cosas más en las que se ve la influencia del cristianismo.

Más que en ningún otro momento de la historia, estamos viviendo un crecimiento numérico de la iglesia cristiana; hoy es común encontrarse con alguien cristiano en el colegio, en la universidad y en el lugar de trabajo cuando hace unos 10-15 años ser cristiano era ser el diferente.

Sin embargo, aunque esto es así, vivimos también en un mundo que: no quiere saber de Dios ni de Cristo; no quiere saber de los cristianos; cada día hay más religiones, filosofías y doctrinas; un mundo donde prima la rebeldía, la violencia, los abortos, la inmoralidad, la pobreza, la guerra, la intolerancia; un mundo de anti-valores donde los absolutos no existen y todo es relativo; un mundo de crisis, desespero y muchas cosas más.

Vivimos una contradicción evidente, pues habiendo más cristianos logramos un menor impacto y transformación del que lograron nuestros antepasados. Uno de los problemas más graves que enfrenta hoy en día la iglesia cristiana es el hecho de que no hay fuego, celo ni entusiasmo por las cosas de Dios. Como consecuencia, tenemos una iglesia desinteresada por proclamar el evangelio en un mundo cada vez más inclinado hacia la perdición.

Los cristianos tibios (aquellos que no están comprometidos con el Reino de Dios y sus principios), le hacen más daño a la iglesia de Cristo que los mismos críticos de la fe. Alguien que quiera debatir la existencia de Dios nunca tendrá tantos argumentos para hacerlo como alguien que predica de Cristo pero vive una mentira. El mayor enemigo de la fe es aquel que no practica la fe que predica.

El mundo está cansado de escuchar el evangelio y NO VER el evangelio en aquel que lo predica.

Romanos 10:13-15 (RVR 1960)

Porque todo aquel que invocare el nombre del Señor, será salvo.

¿Cómo, pues, invocarán a aquel en el cual no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo oirán sin haber quien les predique?

¿Y cómo predicarán si no fueren enviados? Como está escrito: ¡Cuán hermosos son los pies de los que anuncian la paz, de los que anuncian buenas nuevas!

Mira la contradicción aparente del último pasaje (hermosos pies de los que anuncian). El acto de anunciar es uno que generalmente está relacionado con el HABLAR. Sería más apropiado decir “Cuan hermosos son los LABIOS de los que anuncian la paz”. Sin embargo el Espíritu Santo nos está queriendo decir algo en este pasaje:

LO QUE ES HERMOSO PARA AQUELLOS A QUIENES SE LES ANUNCIA LA PAZ, NO ES EL DISCURSO Y LAS PALABRAS DEL QUE LAS PREDICA, SINO SU TESTIMONIO (SU CAMINAR).

Los pies son usados para caminar, para andar, para demostrar algo por medio de nuestro andar. Es por esto, que lo que es hermoso a los ojos de aquellos que son expuestos al evangelio es el predicar con el actuar. LA FE CON OBRAS. La predicación con acción.

De nada nos sirve un mundo lleno de cristianos que viven sin Cristo. 1 Juan 2:6 nos dice que "quien dice estar en Él, debe andar como Él anduvo".

Si te haces llamar cristiano, medita en el testimonio y estilo de vida que estas llevando. Si no lo eres y has sido dañado por el mal testimonio de algún mal llamado "cristiano", te pido que le des la oportunidad a Jesús de cambiar tu vida y transformarte; y por favor no juzgues al Rey por culpa del mensajero.

Are your feet beautiful?

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Perhaps today, we live in the period of greater revival and growth of Christianity in the world. Every day, we have more: Christian literature; Christian media; Christian education; Christian businesses; Christian mega churches; evangelical activities, mega events, concerts and Christian shows; Christians in positions of influence (sports, politics, art, film industry etc.); pastors, apostles, prophets, evangelists and Christian teachers; and many more areas where we can see clearly the influence of Christianity.

Like no other time in history, we are living a numerical growth of the Christian church; today it is common to meet someone who claims to be a Christian at school, in college and in the workplace when some 10-15 years ago to be a Christian was to be the different.

However, while this is true, we also live in a world that: doesn't want to know God or Christ; doesn't want to be around Christians; every day there are more religions, philosophies and doctrines; a world where rebellion is arising, violence takes place, abortions happen, immorality is the law, poverty is normal, war is part of everyday news, intolerance is a value; a world of anti-values where there are no absolutes and everything is relative; a world of crisis, despair and much more.

We live an obvious contradiction, while having more Christians, we have less transformational impact than the one achieved by our ancestors. One of the most serious problems today's Christian church is facing is the fact that there is no fire, no zeal and no enthusiasm for the things of God. As a result, we have a church disinterested to proclaim the gospel in a world heading constantly towards perdition.

Lukewarm Christians (those who are not committed to the Kingdom of God and its principles), do more damage to the church of Christ than the fervent critics of faith. Someone who wants to debate the existence of God will never have so many arguments to do so as someone who preaches Christ but lives a lie. The greatest enemy of faith is one who does not practice the faith he preaches.

The world is tired of hearing the gospel and not SEEING the gospel in he who preaches it.

Romans 10:13-15 (NKJV)

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!"

Look at the apparent contradiction of the last passage (beautiful feet of those who preach). The act of announcing is one that is usually associated with speaking. It would be more appropriate to say "How beautiful are the lips of those who preach the peace." However, the Holy Spirit is trying to tell us something in this passage:

WHAT’S BEAUTIFUL FOR HIM TO WHOOM PEACE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED IS NOT THE SPEECH AND WORDS OF THE PREACHER, BUT HIS TESTIMONY (HIS WAY OF WALKING).

Feet are used to move, to prove something through our daily walk. It is for this reason that what is beautiful to the eyes of those who are exposed to the gospel is preaching accompanied with demonstration. FAITH WITH WORKS. Preaching with action.

The world full of Christians who live without Christ is useless. 1 John 2: 6 tells us that "He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked."

If you call yourself a Christian, meditate on the testimony and lifestyle you are carrying. If you are not and have been damaged by the bad testimony of some so-called "Christian", I ask you to give an opportunity for Jesus to change your life and transform you; and please do not judge the King because of the messenger’s mistakes.
