Mateo 12:36 (RVR 1960)

Mas yo os digo que de toda palabra ociosa que hablen los hombres, de ella darán cuenta en el día del juicio.

Jesús advirtió sobre decir palabras ociosas. De TODAS ellas, daremos cuentas. Un día, toda tu vida será pasada por tu frente y serás juzgado por las que dijiste ociosamente. La palabra “ociosas” viene del griego “argós” que significa: negativa, inactivo, desempleado, inútil, desocupado. La declaración hecha por el Señor entonces se puede leer así:

De toda palabra negativa, inactiva, inútil, desocupada y desempleada (que no produce fruto), tendrás que dar cuentas a Dios el día del gran juicio.

Santiago 3:5 (LBLA)

Así también la lengua es un miembro pequeño, y sin embargo, se jacta de grandes cosas. Mirad, ¡qué gran bosque se incendia con tan pequeño fuego!

Ningún otro miembro de nuestro cuerpo tiene tanto poder como la lengua misma. En ella, está el poder para encender un fuego que consuma grandes bosques. Una de las leyes espirituales más importantes, es la del poder de la palabra, la cual plantea el inmenso potencial que posee el ser humano para literalmente construir o destruir a través de lo que éste habla.

La lengua es un arma que puede ser usada de manera negativa para maldecir (hablar mal) o de manera positiva para bendecir (hablar bien). La palabra de Dios es clara al decir que comemos del fruto de lo que hablamos; lee los siguientes pasajes y medita al hacerlo.

Proverbios 13:2-3 (RVR 1960)

Del fruto de su boca el hombre comerá el bien; Mas el alma de los prevaricadores hallará el mal. El que guarda su boca guarda su alma; Mas el que mucho abre sus labios tendrá calamidad.

Proverbios 12:14a (RVR 1960)

El hombre será saciado de bien del fruto de su boca.

Proverbios 18:20 (RVR 1960)

Del fruto de la boca del hombre se llenará su vientre; Se saciará del producto de sus labios.

Cada vez que abras tu boca, piensa en lo que estamos estudiando hoy y recuerda que toda palabra que dices sin excepción, sube delante de Dios y da testimonio de ti. Además, Dios, es quien nos recompensa públicamente según lo que ve en lo secreto (Mateo 6:6). ¡No hay nada secreto para Él!

Así como te cuidas de lo que comes, cuídate de lo que hablas. Al final, es mejor comer “comida chatarra” que hablar “palabras chatarra”.

No es lo que entra en la boca lo que contamina al hombre; sino lo que sale de la boca, eso es lo que contamina al hombre.

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

Jesus warned about speaking idle words. For these, we will give an account. One day, your whole life will be passed before your eyes, and you will be judged for your idly words. The word "idle" comes from the Greek for "argos" which means: negative, inactive, unemployed, lazy, barren, slow. These statement made by the Lord can be read as follows:

From every negative, inactive, unemployed (fruitless), lazy, barren, and slow word, you will give account in the day of judgment.

James 3:5 (NKJV)

Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

No other member of our body has as much power as the tongue itself. In it there is the power to light a fire to consume large forests. One of the most important spiritual laws is the power of words, which states the immense potential of the human being to literally create or destroy through what we speak.

The tongue is a weapon that can be used negatively to curse (speak badly) or positively to bless (speak well). The word of God is clear in saying we eat the fruit of what we speak; read the following passages and meditate to do.

Proverbs 13:2-3 (NKJV)

A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth, But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence. He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

Proverbs 12:14a (NKJV)

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.

Proverbs 18:20 (NKJV)

A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

Each time you open your mouth, think about what we are studying today and remember, every word you say without exception goes before God and testifies about you. Moreover, God is the one who rewards us publicly according to what he sees secretly (Matthew 6:6). There is nothing secret to Him!

Just as you take care of what you eat, take care of what you speak. At the end, better is to eat “junk food” than to speak “junk words”.

Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.
